President’s Message
As the incoming President of the City of San Diego’s chapter of the National Management Association, I’m excited about the New Year. Much was accomplished last year under the leadership of former President Liz Maland. NMA has grown in numbers and influence in City government. With the continued strong support of Mayor Jerry Sanders this organization will continue to grow and achieve greatness within the City structure. The newly elected Officers and Board members will be outstanding. I speak for the entire board when I say that we are excited for the New Year and are ready to do our part in making this a successful year. We had an outstanding kick-off event last month and have some tremendous events coming up. Our goal this year is to increase membership by offering quality networking and professional development opportunities. We appreciate the challenge and commitment necessary for this organization to grow and meet the needs of its members.
We invite all City employees to be a part of NMA as we strive to assist you to grow professionally and make new friends.
Elmer Heap NMA President

Volunteers for National Conference
|
|
Hello Everyone,
This is a call for Volunteers to help out at the Annual National Management Association Conference that will be held in San Diego this year from November 1st thru 3rd. Please visit the National website at http://nma1.us/conference08/ for more information on a conference itinerary. Here is some general information for you concerning volunteers and the conference in November:
I know that volunteers will be asked to help sign people into the break-out sessions and for other areas in directing Conference goers to activity areas. Volunteers will be able to go to some of the breakout sessions because they help out during the conference and that is great news. If you are interested in seeing what those break-out sessions are, please visit the NMA National website and look at what is being offered. I know that some of the banquets where they have motivational and/or keynote speakers are going to be great. I think attending these might be possible on a case by case basis as long as you pay for the specific banquet. And this is strictly because of the cost of the food. Being a volunteer is an excellent way to see the conference up close. And you may decide to participate in one of the luncheon/dinner events.
Please feel free to call me at x33913 or via email response to sign up to volunteer.
Thanks. Diana

2008 NMA Annual Conference

Anonymous writes "IT’S ALL ABOUT LEADERSHIP! Come join NMA (the National Management Association) and ICPM (Institute of Certified Professional Managers) at the Bahia Resort in beautiful San Diego for a GREAT learning experience with lots of workshops, SPECIAL guests, and presenters.
Come to San Diego and you will leave equipped with new tools to be a LEADER in everything you do… at work, at home, and in your community.
The San Diego local Chapters and the San Diego Area Council will infuse into the Conference some of the major cultural influences such as the military, beaches, tourism, and our close proximity to the Mexican border.
At noon on November 1, the conference will officially begin with an exciting luncheon Keynote by Scott Friedman, CSP, followed by one of the highlights of our conference, the National Finals of the American Enterprise Speech Contest.
